Additional Mechanical Layers 
The Summer 09 release of Altium Designer heralds the arrival of 16 new mechanical layers available for board implementation. This doubles the available layers, bringing the total number of mechanical layers to 32.

As with all layers defined within a PCB document, the new mechanical layers can be enabled and configured from the Board Layers and Colors tab of the View Configurations dialog (Design»Board Layers & Colors).

Import Wizard Support

The following wizards (File»Import Wizard) support import to these additional 16 mechanical layers:

  • Allegro Import wizard
  • CADSTAR Import wizard
  • Orcad Import wizard
  • PADS Import wizard
  • P-CAD Import wizard

 

In addition, the 16 additional mechanical layers are supported for both import (File»Import) and export (File»Save As) of AutoCAD-based files (*.DXF, *.DWG).
