PCB 3D Orthographic Projection

More precise object geometry can now be achieved through new PCB 3D Orthographic Projection. Exact positioning of components and details that may be hidden from views are some of the perspectives that are now possible, providing an even more realistic view of the board and enhancing the ability to edit design data.

To enable this view, select from the PCB menu, Design ยป Board Layers & Colors. With a 3D view configuration set, change the Projection setting found under the General section to Orthographic and press ok to exit the dialog.



Figure 2. Note the three blue capacitor cylinders on the right. From this older view, their exact position is unclear and their designators can't be seen from the camera position.


Figure 3. Here we see that the exact area of the board that is covered by the three capacitors is clear and no designators are obscured.
